About Retrodelphia
Retrodelphia is an independent vintage furniture business based in Clarksboro, New Jersey, with an appointment-only warehouse showroom just outside Philadelphia. You can shop with us through our site, 1stDibs, Chairish, Etsy, eBay, and Instagram, or visit the warehouse by appointment to see pieces up close and talk furniture. Mid-century modern furniture from the 1950s through the 1980s is our main focus, but you’ll also find Danish and Scandinavian Modern, Hollywood Regency, Brutalist, Postmodern, Italian Modern, lighting, art, and other distinctive vintage pieces.
How Retrodelphia Started
Pat Tomasiello started Retrodelphia on Instagram in 2018 to share vintage and modern furniture finds with people who cared about them. The following grew, and what began as a feed of interesting pieces developed into a warehouse and shop for first-time vintage buyers, collectors, decorators, and interior designers.
Pat, Don, And A Shared Eye For Vintage Furniture
Today, Retrodelphia is run by co-owners Pat Tomasiello and Don O’Neill. Don grew up around his family’s antiques business. His father opened Princeton Antiques on Nassau Street in Princeton in 1964. Before Retrodelphia, Don ran O’Neill’s Antiques, including a space at the Golden Nugget Antique Market in Lambertville, New Jersey. He brings decades of buying, selling, sourcing, and restoration experience to the warehouse.
Don and Pat worked together for years before the Retrodelphia name launched in 2018. Pat gained hands-on experience buying and selling vintage furniture while building the shop’s online presence and its focus on mid-century and modern design. Don’s background in antiques and restoration gives the business another perspective on what makes a piece worth bringing into the warehouse.
From Sourcing To The Showroom
Much of the work happens before a piece reaches the showroom. Pat and Don look through estates, house contents, auctions, private collections, and dealer networks for furniture that fits the shop. Today, customers can buy directly from Retrodelphia online or in Clarksboro, as well as through the marketplaces where our pieces appear.
Pat’s Instagram presence helped introduce Retrodelphia to a much wider audience and brought local and national media attention to the business. Retrodelphia has been featured by The Washington Post and was named Philadelphia Magazine’s 2023 Best of Philly winner for “Throwback Furnishings.”
Inside the Warehouse
The warehouse changes constantly. One visit might bring clean-lined dressers, dining sets, and walnut nightstands alongside lounge chairs, vintage lighting, artwork, and bolder statement pieces. We look for furniture with sound construction, good design, and character, then decide what attention each piece needs before it reaches a buyer.
